The day of the big surf has some nice waves rolling in to the beach. In the winter the sand on the beach gets redistributed and forms many flat areas at the high tide line. This creates many "beach ponds" which change looks every few seconds as the waves come in, then retreat, and the water left behind soaks into the sand.
Mix water, salts, chemicals, dead plants, decomposed fish and excretions from seaweed, stir it up with big waves, and you get some nice ocean foam.
Get your toes wet.
